A crazy looking white cartoon cat instructs us to listen up because the Kreatrix has something important to say.

Meet Ben

Today I introduce you to Ben, the rather disgruntled looking white tom cat in the header. I commemorated Ben some years back by designing his own line of fabric, which sold in stores throughout the USA.

A photograph of the fabric featuring Ben, the cat from outer space

Despite his appearance, the result of a birth defect, he couldn’t have been sweeter, more bizarre or funnier. Ben is in the background behind his buddy Simon.

A most unusual looking skinney white cat posing with his best friend Simon.

The Prof and I adored him. He had a meow that could last for an entire minute! We claimed he was from another planet – Planet of the Cats, to be precise. Ben has since returned to his home planet but was originally rescued off the mean streets of Los Angeles.

Having been in the trenches of animal rescue, my respect runs deep for organizations working  non-stop for those without a voice. One such organization is:

Stray Cat Alliance

Mission, Vision and Values

Mission: Stray Cat Alliance educates and empowers the community to advocate for every cat’s right to be safe, healthy and valued. We are building a no kill nation, one stray at a time.

Vision: Stray Cat Alliance envisions a time when all cats are cared for, all kittens and domesticated cats are in loving homes and there is a healthy, but declining sterilized feral cat population. The feral cat colonies that do remain are monitored, fed, and treated medically when needed by their caregivers.

Poster for the Stray Cat Alliance fund raiser on October 18th.

Sherlock will be participating in a silent auction to raise money for cat rescue. I am thrilled beyond words to be a part of this.

Adorable soft sculptured cat named Sherlock. He is gold color with soft butterscotch color patches. His tail is striped.

The auction begins online October 6th. And then he’s off to a fancy party for the live part of the auction held at a lovely estate in Brentwood on October 18th!

The Chairman is here with me saying:

Punch it up some. Tell a joke!

I’ll hand over the keyboard to him…make it short, buddy.

Get ready to laugh:

What do cats eat for breakfast?

Give up?

Mice Krispies

Kreatrix just rolled her eyes.

And now she left the room. Gotta go-

World Domination With Awesome Sauce on The Side

Kreatrix and The Prof took me to a car show!

So I can get ideas for fixing up my World Dominationmobile!

Here I am heading out:

The Chairman sticks his head out the car window.

I want NEED one of these somewhere in my car. Please, Kreatrix, please try to find one.

Two photos of a vintage pickup truck with an outrageous bloodshot eyeball and big teeth on the stick shift. Very cool!

I don't understand how these guys below pulled this off. They can't even see over the steering wheel.

NOT FAIR I TELL YOU.

You'd think they'd be happier but look at 'em.

Two Roadrunner dolls sitting inside the most awsome vintage pickup truck.

I...I...EEEEEEEEK! A real live Corvette. AND. IT'S. RED.

A beautiful red corvette! The Chairman is leaning agains the shiney chrome hubcap daydreaming. He is also shown sitting inside the car!

Look at me up there daydreaming about my own red Corvette.

A turquoise vintage car, spit polished and gleaming. The Chairman poses next to it.

This turquoise number looked really good next to me. And yet, I don't understand why people were pointing and laughing. Some of them wanted to touch me. Hmmmmm.

The Kreatrix and the Chairman sit inside a 1969 Black Datson convertible with red interior. Very sweet!

The little black car is a 1969 Datsun convertible and the nice man let us sit in it. I call him nice because he thought I was a cute little cat.

Lookey here. Kreatrix was NOT amused when I told her this is how she looks when under extreme deadlines.

Hysterical cartoon drawing of Rat Frink emblazoned on the side of a hot rod. Rat fink has big teeth and bulging eyes.

Another thing. I couldn't understand why the Prof would stuff me inside a pink shopping bag and asked me to be quiet. I wonder if it had to do with people pointing at him whilst holding me next to cars. I reminded him about those two mean looking stuffed animals sitting inside the cool pickup truck. HELLO. That man wasn't embarrassed by his dolls.

A collection of shots including purple dice on a door lock, vintage chrom grill work and a vintage Ford Logo emblazoned across a shiny red hood.

Kreatrix loves design of all kind and finds these vintage cars so inspiring.

HEY! Look. It's Gangsta Cat:

The Chairman sits on the ground with a bandana tied over his nose. Next to him is a can of spray paint. He looks like a gangsta!

And I'm working on my car!!!!!

The Chairman is aiming the spray can at his bright red corvette, also known as The World Dominationmobile.

I could pass out and not from the fumes. FROM EXCITEMENT PEOPLE!

If you need a refresher, this is what the alleged car to be used by my community in our quest for World Domination looks like:

Beaten up child's electric car with potential.

Uh-huh. Stunning.

My Community is Growing

I've named him Sherlock.

CatberryTails_Sherlock

He's got really soft patches on his body.

CatberryTails_Sherlock2

Kreatrix says he's made out of raw silk and chenille. All I know is that she had to feed the curse jar until she figured out how to sew with this fabric.

Ginger is flirting with him a little too much for my liking. Here I am telling her:

Ixnay on the flirtsnay!

CatberryTails_GingerFlirts

Notice the stink eye Ginger is giving me! Whew! Kreatrix didn't want me to post the picture because we look ticked at each other.

I think it's positively dramatic! It shows my tough side.

Also, I wasn't quite sure what the little pink knots where on Sherlock's belly but I'm told all cats have them.

Hello. I don't.

Just when I think I've got it all figured out.

More Community Members Are On The Way!

Kreatrix is hard at work on more community members! The good news is:

We hope to be selling them soon and contributing a portion of proceeds to animal rights organizations!

We made Kreatrix take a break and watch this cool video. Check out what this guy built for his cat who had a nasty ear infection and had to have drops put in his ears. The little dude kept running from his human and his human wanted to do something special for him.

As if I didn't have enough to worry about, I'm afraid Kreatrix is going to try to build one of these in our house...

Ginger has her own letterhead now! She is an adorable soft sculptured cat doll. Her letterhead features beautiful handwriting and a beauty shot of Ginger.

Even Older Than Our Kreatrix

Hello sweet peas, Ginger here reporting for duty. Actually, the Chairman rolled his eyes over these pictures. Apparently, they aren't macho enough for him. So here I am.

Are you aware of  how much your life can be influenced by people you aren't even related to and possibly have never met?

When Kreatrix Mom was a very little girl, she lived across the street from two elderly women (sisters and artists) who taught her Mom how to draw and paint. And so Kreatrix grew up with a mother who was always drawing and painting. Even though Kreatrix never got to meet these two influential ladies, she feels such a kinship with them...she views them as family and a huge part of the reason she is now an artist.

Here is a very, very, very old quilt handmade by "Auntie Bachman" when she was young. She left the quilt for Kreatrix Mom to inherit when she was old enough to take care of it.

Antinque crazy quilt with hand embroidered date of 1883.

See. Old.

A beautiful detail shot of the patchwork quilt.

Auntie Bachman was an excellent painter and painted little scenes on scraps of fabric before sewing them into the quilt.

Two beautiful owls sitting on a tree branch.

Hand painted peacock feathers on a scrap of fabric.

Look at the little faces on the peas in the pod!

Hand painted pea pod. The peas have charming little faces painted on them.

Yum! A strawberry.

Beautiful hand painted strawberry and leaves.

I am told that the U.S. flag has a whole lot more stars on it nowadays.

An American flag with a lot fewer stars than we have today.

Here's the cool thing. Auntie Bachman's older sister, Aunt May, drew a huge portrait of Auntie Bachman when she turned 16 years old. Auntie Bachman wanted Kreatrix' Mom to have that portrait and one day it will be passed on to Kreatrix.

Very large, amazing charcoal drawing of a very young and pretty woman.

This is done in charcoal pencil people! YOWZA.

Detail shot of the lovely young woman done in charcoal pencil.

I think Aunt May and Auntie Bachman would really love how their gift of friendship and art lessons given to a small girl has influenced two generations of women!

World Domination Has Begun!!

The Kreatrix has returned home with the news that two of my World Domination Squad have been adopted into loving homes! The North Carolina Zoo To Do was a smashing success.

Envoy was adopted by a very lovely young woman. Look at him posing at the Zoo To Do. I taught him everything he knows.

CatberryTails_ZooToDoPatchwork

And here's Newman warming up before the crowd arrived:

CatberryTails_ZooToDoNewman

Newman was adopted by a very nice chap who wanted him to be something called "eye-candy" in his little girl's bedroom until she's old enough to play with him. Very cool. I'd like an "eye-candy" assignment!

Hey nice people, if you stop in here on our clog (cat blog) please send us photos of our gang so we don't miss them too much! We'll post them for all our fans to see!

Here is the entrance to the Zoo To Do party tent:

CatberryTails_ZooToDoEntrance

Kreatrix told us about an amazing young woman (only 26 years old) who painted this:

CatberryTails_ZooToDoStar

Speechless here. No wonder Kreatrix wanted this but it sold for a lot of money.

Look who got her own private limousine while helping the Kreatrix do PR work back east.

CatberryTails_ZooToDoLimo

ENVIOUS

She was a little nervous after Envoy and Newman headed off to the zoo so she made some new friends at the home of Kreatrix Mother.

Of course, this is news to us. We thought Kreatrix came from another planet so when we asked her about having a mother she said "Oh...Mom found me next to the spaceship and brought me home."

Hmmm. I must investigate this further.

Anywho...here's a couple of new friends hangin' with our silk brocade beauty.

CatberryTails_ZooToDoFriends

The  Kreatrix Mother has an odd little creature in her house.

A little Chihuahua with giant ears sits in a patch of sunshine.

I am told this is a dog. Wow. I somehow expected dogs to be bigger.

That's it for now folks. Stay tuned for more big news coming your way!

Please Don't Fold, Spindle or Mutilate!

Folks, I am concerned. The Kreatrix is taking my new minions on an airplane tomorrow!

IN A SUITCASE

I...I...Why?

She reassured me they'd be safe inside the airplane with her...

IN A SUITCASE

Look at this face and ask yourself if you'd stuff her in a suitcase:

A very adorable cat doll made out of Asian silk brocade fabric. She sits with a sultry look on her face.

I mean really...

Silk brocade lovely cat sits on edge of table with her legs crossed very dainty-like.

I gathered my minions of World Domination Smiles and Happiness and gave them emergency lessons in curling up inside the Kreatrix carry-on bag. Please note:

I think they enjoyed it a little too much.

Here we are before the training session. I won't show you the after picture.

The three newest members of the Catberry Tails gang pose with the Chairman.

The Prof and I also got Kreatrix a special self inflating and adjustable back pillow for the oddly shaped seats you humans travel in whilst hurdling through the air.

Um. You release a valve on the pillow as it's stuffed behind your back and it makes a sound like a nice, long dog fart. Kreatrix said it's called a long, slow windy one.

EW

Here are the cool tags that get tied around the wrists of my World Domination Embassadors.

The doll tags, complete with instructions of care and a list including things you learn from cats. Stuff like stretch daily, hiss as needed, unconditional love, etc.

I'm nervous and excited! I hope Kreatrix sits next to an understanding person who doesn't think she's being rude when her back pillow decides to cut one.

Ginger has her own letterhead now! She is an adorable soft sculptured cat doll. Her letterhead features beautiful handwriting and a beauty shot of Ginger.

That's Right. Sheesh!

This next phrase has to be whispered due to The Chairman's reaction to it:

Last week the Kreatrix threw her back out again.

Shhhh. You'd think the Chairman would have learned from the previous time it happened, but he went outside to the garbage can and searched for her back. Then he pitched a tent next to the garbage can when it got dark. He was certain someone would come and steal her back "which she must have thrown out by mistake!"

Stop rolling your eyes. He loves her.

Now for the other Sheesh part. She was flat on her back and couldn't work on our community for the Zoo To Do.

However, she did finish this chap before she hurt herself:

Ginger poses with her cousin, a new cat doll, made out of the same 60's vintage fabric as Ginger.

That's Newman up there with Ginger! He's a cousin of hers.

Kreatrix has propped her self up and is hard at work on this beauty:

A doll underway and being made with vintage Chinese silk brocade fabric used to make kimonos.

That is vintage silk brocade from Asia! Kreatix found it at an estate sale - about 10 yards of it for only a few buckeroos!

Apparently it's hard to work with because she keeps having to feed our curse jar! YIPEEEE.

Ok, sweetpeas - more photos to come.

So Don't Laugh

Meet one of our new members!

The Chairman poses with a tuxedo style cat doll.

Handsome chap, isn't he!

A closeup of the Chairman and the newest member.

Kreatrix made him out of a man's suit jacket. NOT THE PROF's. Whew! That would have provided major entertainment for us cats.

The Chairman showing us the new cat's spots on his back.

Cool spots!

Detail shot of the spots made out of men's suits.

Kreatrix made the spots so they look furry!

CAUTION: If you're squeamish, look the other way.

Here's his booty. Nifty, huh?

We see the bottom of the new cats booty and he has a flower button where his butt-hole would be.

I want a booty flower under my tail. I figure if Dude is gonna call me one of those I might as well own one.

Now don't laugh...until this handsome chap gets adopted and somebody gives him his forever name, he's decided his name is

Envoy

Yep. Kreatrix told him that he is part of a very special envoy for my community seeing as he's flying cross country for the fancy Zoo auction.

Here is Envoy in training for real-life cat interactions.

Envoy poses with real life cat Rudy.

Clearly Rudy is used to all of us.

And here is Envoy's first selfie -

Envoy takes a selfie.

Here I am chilling with Wally (and no I didn't kill him. He's sleeping).

Real life cat Wally is sleeping on his back while the Chairman lays on his back next to him.

Eve 2.0 and Ginger will introduce you to another member later this week!

Our Community is Expanding!

Lookey here:

Pattern pieces are all cut out for another doll.

Kreatrix is hard at work for a very important reason...(besides my quest for World Domination.)

Here is Eve getting all excited because this newest creation is a close relative of hers.

Eve 2.0 is sitting on the table looking at a doll made out of the same fabric as her body.

This one below looks really different. I actually know how it ends up looking but I am supposed to "tease" you until the big reveal next week. Personally, I don't find it very funny but Kreatrix said to tease you. So HAHA!

Some more doll parts and pieces.

I selected the eyes and nose.

Button eyes and a fabric nose lay on a table.

OK. Listen up.

The Chairman cat doll takes a selfie standing in front of the dolls being made.

The new members of my World Domination Squad are flying (with the Kreatrix) clear across the USA to participate in a huge event raising money for the North Carolina Zoo. They will be auctioned off (along with lots of other cool stuff from artists and such) to help raise money for the Zoo's research and conservation programs!

The North Carolina Zoo To Do poster.Check out C'sar, he's 40 years old!

C'sar the Elephant who lives at the North Carolina Zoo roams free in the fields.

The 2,000 acre North Carolina Zoo was the first American zoo to use the "natural habitat" philosophy – putting animals together with plants in exhibits that resemble exactly how they would be found in the wild! Most animals are kept in large expanses of land, which reduces many of the behavior problems that can be caused by close confinement.

I understand that. If I'm closed up with Dude or Ginger for too long, I'd kinda like to...well, never mind.

Elephants roaming in the African Plains Exhibit.

The 37-acre  African Plains exhibit alone is as large as many entire zoos!

Mostly, though, the Kreatrix loves the work they do throughout the world with such organizations as The World Wildlife Fund. And the fact that the animals aren't in cages but roam in their natural habitat.

There's gonna be 800 people at this shindig! I can't even count that high!

Big kitty cats. Whew!

Lions at the North Carolina Zoo.

This is our first big PR event!

Ginger and I (along with the Kreatrix) are about to perform the ceremony that brings our newest members to life! It's very secret and very special. I even get to wear a ceremonial robe. Shhhhh. You'll get to meet them next week!
